Pricing

Want to work with us?

Dayflower believes in equitable pricing based on the scale of the project and your budget. Give our pricing guide a read below:

Artists, activists, freelancers, and educators:

Web design and development for portfolio sites, small web or interactive projects, and the like: $50-$75 hourly, with a $500 project minimum. All rates are on a sliding scale according to your needs, budget, and financial restraints.
Single-page sites like this are a flat-rate of $500.
Sites with bespoke interactive features or multiple pages, like this, will typically run at least $750.
Other types of development, like custom audio solutions/digital instruments, Max patches, interactive installations, or anything of a similar vein: same as above, with a bit more leeway for per-project-minimums for short-term projects.
An initial down deposit of 10% of the entire fee is preferred up-front, with the rest due once you're content with what you have. If you, for any reason, would prefer to pay in a lump sum at the project's end, that likewise can be arranged.

Established professionals, small businesses, and media outlets:

Small businesses are defined as those with less than 20 employees with legal recognition as a business, be it LLC or otherwise. If you own a business that you think would qualify as a small business but doesn’t fit within these guidelines, please reach out and start a conversation with us — we can talk!

Established professionals are those who have extensive experience in their respective fields, with more-than 5 years of work experience.

Media outlets are major journalistic entities like Vox, New York Times, Gothamist, New York Magazine, GQ, CNN, etc.
Web design and development, logo design, branding kits, pitch decks: $75 hourly, with a project minimum of $2,000. Web work includes things like company landing pages, portfolios, lists of services, interactive projects and data visualization, as well as general informational or professional sites.
E-commerce: project minimum of $3,000.
Other types of development or any audio-related work: same as above.
Journalism projects, including data visualization, extensive layout designs, bug squashing, and the like: same as above, but if you are part of a smaller newsroom like 404 Media, Hell Gate, Defector, please reach out to us directly. We want to work with you!
Payments are preferably done with 15% total up-front, and the remaining once the project is finished and you’re content with what we’ve built.

Corporations and VC-funded startups:

Web design and development, logo design, branding kits, pitch decks: $75 hourly, with a project minimum of $5,000. Web work includes things like company landing pages, portfolios, lists of services, extensive interactive projects for product launches, and general informational or professional sites.
Other types of development or any audio-related work: same as above.
Payment is made on a bi-weekly basis, at 5%-per-payment, until the full amount is paid or the project is complete, at which point the remaining sum is due.
We do deploy a kill fee of at least 20% of the initial agreed-upon payment.
Rush jobs (to be determined at Dayflower’s discretion) will see a 20% rate increase, depending on the turnaround of the deadline.

Academic institutions, non-profits, and charities:

We want to work with you! We price on a project-by-project basis with flexible rates and minimums, and would love to chat with you about your project and specific needs. Please, reach out to us and start a conversation!

Do you take retainers?

Yes! Not only do we prefer retainers, we prioritize them and give lower, negotiable rates to clients offering them.

Why the pricing ranges?

Dayflower is a small business operating in New York making ends meet. We charge prices commensurate with our experience, education, and, most of all, dedicated customer service: pay for a project with Dayflower once, and we’ll be around in perpetuity for updates and support as times and tech changes, within reason.

Moreover, a significant portion of our income goes to benefiting Brooklyn as best we can. Dayflower stands by the belief that to exist in a community means an obligation to improve and contribute to it, so we donate 7% of all project payments directly to these local NYC organizations:
As well as a few global organizations:
