Case study: SpotlightDC

Branding

Development

As a local newsroom and award-granting 503c non-profit focusing on watchdog reporting in the D.C. area, SpotlightDC needed a high-performance, massively scalable site with the ability to easily write, organize, and publish dozens if not hundreds of articles.

Dayflower built both a brand-new visual language and publishing back end on SpotlightDC’s existing WordPress domain, reworking the site to be both distinctly, colorfully formatted while remaining usable and intuitive for users both visiting and publishing.
SpotlightDC’s backend is built around an upgraded, custom-built version of WordPress’s existing content management system. With an adaptive newsroom categorization system, writers can effortlessly sort articles and pages into their respective sections and templates with the click of a button, and never have to worry about tiptoeing around complicated interfaces to publish a breaking news story.
